Manufacturer's Description

Elementis Specialties is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of various types of rheology modifiers. Our major brands - BENTONE®, BENTONE SD®, BARAGEL®, THIXATROL®, THIXCIN®, and RHEOLATE® products provide the most versatile rheological properties to improve the application properties of solventborne, waterborne, high-solids and UV-cured systems.
BENTONE®1000 is an organic derivative ofbentonite clay. This highly efficient and costeffectiverheological additive is designed for low- tointermediate polarity organic systems

BENTONE®1000 should be incorporated in thedispersion phase under high shear. A pigmentedCowles dispersion is sufficient. A chemicalactivator is not required, although sometimes theaddition of a small quantity of water (ca 1/3 theweight of BENTONE®1000) is beneficial. The BENTONE®1000 powder is added directly tothe resin/solvent blend and is thoroughly mixed for10 minutes. The pigments and fillers are thenadded and dispersed with high shear for at least15 minutes. There is generally no need to pregel BENTONE®1000 additive. However, in low solvency, highsolids systems it may be desirable to use aBENTONE®1000 pregel.1. Mineral Spirits 87 parts2. BENTONE®1000 10 parts3.
