There have been put forward and implemented the idea of a fast breeder reactors and reactors with direct conversion of nuclear energy into electrical energy. SSC RF - IPPE is a world leader in the use of liquid metals as coolants in nuclear power plants with fast reactors, marine and space-based nuclear power plants. Received international recognition of the work of the SSC RF - IPPE in nuclear physics, nuclear energy technologies and nuclear safety. In the SSC RF - IPPE conducted experimental research in the field of nuclear and laser physics and plasma physics, radiation material science, radiochemistry and of new technologies, including nanotechnology, hydrogen energy and nuclear medicine technology.
