ABS GranuleZinc oxide
ZnO Nanoparticle /Nanopowder CAS Number : 1314-13-2By production of ABS antibacterial masterbatch through addition of zinc oxide to raw ABS granule, replication of bacteria can be prevented in fridge parts. The products antibacterial activity was evaluated according to standard number ISIRI 10900, “Evaluation of antibacterial activity on plastic and other non-porous surfaces. Antibacterial activity is an index of products ability to remove contacting bacteria, which is obtained by logarithmic comparison of number of bacteria existing on witness and product sample after 24 hours of being in contact with the bacteria. According to the mentioned standard, antibacterial activity between 2 and 3 is meaningful, and it will be high for over 3.
ABS polymer is created of three monomers: Acrylonitrile, Butadiene and Styrene. Each of these monomers give exclusive properties to final polymer. Part of these properties are transparency created by styrene, elasticity cause of butadiene and polarity and chemical resistance due to presence of acrylonitrile in ABS backbone, which according to that several grades of ABS can be obtained by variation of each monomer’s composition. ABS is used for different purposes such as home appliances plastic parts. Antibacterial masterbatch of ABS is produced by using modified antibacterial Nano materials. It can also be mixed with other polymers like PC or PVC to obtain alloys with even better properties.
