Antibacterial properties can be obtained by the use of granules contain nanomaterial. The “antibacterial activity” were evaluated by ISIRI 10900 standard “Measurement of antibacterial activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces. Antibacterial activity is an indicator of the product ability to eliminate bacteria. It is obtained by comparison of bacteria number present on control and nanometric samples after 24 hours’ exposure. According to standard, when the antibacterial activity of the product is between 2 and 3, the effectiveness is good. If antibacterial activity is greater than 3, the effectiveness is intense and strong.
A refrigerator is a popular household appliance that consists of a thermally insulated compartment and a heat pump that transfers heat from the inside of the fridge to its external environment so that the inside of the fridge is cooled to a temperature below the ambient temperature of the room. A refrigerator maintains a temperature a few degrees above the freezing point of water. Bacteria which exist in refrigerators can cause food spoilage and affect their tastes and smells. However, some bacteria thrive at cold temperatures, and if present, will grow in the refrigerator and could cause illness. These bacteria may not even affect the taste, smell, or appearance of a food. To this end, refrigerators with antibacterial inside wall, that nanotechnology have been used in their making are developed.
