Improvement of thermal shock strength Using ceramic nanoparticles leads to the increase in thermal shock and increase in combustion chamber as a consequence. Improvement in thermal shock properties has been evaluated by “(thermal shock test) internal standard test method in Siemens company”, DGTLV- 810335001. Its results are as follows The results of this test is an indicator of the tiles performance and thermal shock resistance. In this test, the crack length is measured after keeping the speciements in 1000 0C for 20 minutes and then quenching them in water with a temperature of 40 0C for 3 minutes.
A combustion chamber is a component or area of a gas turbine, where combustion takes place by presence of pressured gas and fuel. A combustor (combustion chamber) must contain and maintain stable combustion despite very high air flow rates. In addition., increase in operating temperature improve the efficiency of the turbine. It can be said that the combustion chamber possesses the highest amount of temperature among turbine parts and is subjected to a combination of creep, pressure loading, high cycle and thermal fatigue. The wall of flame tubes in combustion chamber (model: V94.2) is constructed from replaceable ceramic tiles. To manufacture this product, freeze-casting is used instead of common methods of production such as sol-gel. Ceramic nanoparticles could be used in order to achieve to higher strength, accurate dimensional control and proper thermal performance. Freeze-casting is a technique to produce high strength solid parts from metal or ceramic powders. This process which occurs in solidification temperature is much cheaper than other casting processes in which wasted wax or sintering are used.
