Water absorption by wood and MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is an important issue which causes swelling in their structure and gradually destroys them. Hence covering such surfaces with various coating and dyes is a beneficial alternative.  Nanotechnology provides us to use some low cost colloidal compounds for this matter in order to make wood and MDF stuff water-resistant.  

Applying nanoparticles on the various surfaces reduces their roughness surface energy and makes them hydrophobic as following table.
