Corrosion of metallic equipments in damp and industrial areas (due to acid rain) or exposure to chemicals is a serious issue. Corrosion is the main cause of industrial failures and the loss of billions of dollars annually for the maintenance, repair and restoration of metallic materials. Metallic parts without any protective agents or anti-corrosion coatings may rust inside and out, depending on environmental conditions and their exposure to corrosive media. There are several ways to prevent corrosion, the most effective of which is coating or painting of surfaces. In this method, the anti-corrosion paints act as a barrier and prevent contact between the chemicals and the corrosive materials with the host metal. Polymer coatings are one of the major methods for increasing corrosion resistance of metals. These coatings can replace chromate coatings that have environmental problems. By adding nanomaterials as filler in polymeric paint, its corrosion resistance efficiency is increased and mechanical properties of coating will be improved.
