Silver nanoparticles are mostly used because of their biological, electrical or optical properties. Their antimicrobial effect opens up the widest range of applications: Due to their high chemical reactivity, silver ions form strong bonds with groups containing sulphur, oxygen or nitrogen and prevent the spread of bacteria and fungi.
In contrast to other chemically synthesized nanoparticles available on the market, laser-generated nanoparticles are produced directly from pure silver and are therefore of the highest purity. We produce such silver nanoparticles in water and organic solvents. There are advantages for new developments in almost all areas, be it the variation of optical properties, e.g. B. through material combinations or the uniform embedding of high-purity silver nanoparticles in polymers for medical applications. Silver alloys, for example with gold, broaden the range of applications in terms of optical properties (plasmon resonance), bioactivity and chemical corrosion stability (nanosafety by design).
