Gold nanoparticles are mainly used in biotechnology and biomedical engineering. Their special properties include their optical absorption in the visible range, their chemical inertness and their toxicological harmlessness. Among other things, gold nanoparticles with antibodies or specific receptor molecules lead to the characteristic red coloration in many rapid tests in in-vitro analysis, which is known from pregnancy tests, cocaine tests or cancer tests, for example. In in vivo applications, the nanoparticles can be used for localization and diagnostic imaging, and hyperthermic treatments allow targeted cell destruction.
In contrast to other nanoparticles on the market, our laser-generated gold nanoparticles are produced directly from pure gold and are therefore of the highest purity. We can also conjugate gold nanoparticles with biomolecules directly during their production: Such gold conjugates with DNA or antibodies, for example, show outstanding conjugation efficiencies (for high yields) and surface coverage (for high functionalities). They are completely free of citrates or preservatives, so only pure conjugation functionality comes into play. In addition, our gold particles are also used in analytics (due to reduced background with MALDI and SERS) and catalysis (due to increased process stability, see below).
