Nullarbor Fibre

Nanollose has produced Tree-Free Nullarbor lyocell Fibre, which has also been successfully spun into yarn, and then made into a garment using the latest zero-waste 3D knitting technology.
Unlike conventional rayon, Nanollose’s sustainable Tree-Free Fibre is derived using microbes that convert waste products into microbial cellulose, in a process that takes less than one month and requires very little land, water or energy. The microbial cellulose is then converted into Nullarbor fibres using the Nanollose technology, which is compatible with existing industry processing and manufacturing equipment.
The first wearable garment using Nullarbor Tree-Free Lyocell was manufactured using standard industrial equipment, marking the first time a piece of clothing has been made using a tree-free lyocell fibre. 

This is a drastic departure from clothing made from traditional lyocell fibre that comes from wood pulp and has a harmful chemical process.

Creating the garment was the last significant step in Nanollose’s journey from industrial waste-to-garment development and provides a tangible illustration that the Company’s technology could offer a commercially viable, eco-friendly manufacturing solution for the clothing industry who are urgently seeking more sustainable solutions.
