Manufacturer's Description

Because of the developing resistance of bacteria against bactericides and antibodies and the irritant and toxic nature of some antimicrobial agents, biomaterial scientists have focused their research on nano-sized particles such as Ag, titanium dioxide, and copper. Silver has been recognized as an element with strong biocidal action against many bacterial strains and microorganisms. Today silver nanoparticles are used to prevent unpleasant odor caused by bacteria in socks. Silver nanoparticles are embedded in the full volume of the yarn and remain active for the lifetime of the sock. The synthetic yarn wicks sweat away from the skin into the cotton component which increases comfort of wearing. Silver ions released from the nanoparticles are poisonous to the bacteria that can thrive in the warmth and moisture of feet and socks, so the bacteria in these socks are removed and the socks remain cleaner
