Solar CellSpecial cover glass for improved durability and radiation protection Thermally conductive positive terminal on the back side for improved thermal stability Silver-plated inter-connectors for negative terminal Internal copper ground planes for improved EMI compatibility; Circuit design without current loops to avoid spontaneous satellite spin up due to parasitic magnetic dipole effects; Multiple arrays can be connected in parallel or series (by-pass and blocking diodes are used to protect individual cells and modules from shading effects) PCB thickness <1.7 mm Panel base material: FR-4 (IPC-6012B) IPC – A600H class 3 assembly, hand soldering per ESA specification ECSS-Q-70-08 Operational temperature: -40 °C to +85 °C
NanoAvionics mono-Si solar arrays are made of the highest efficiency silicon solar cells in the commercial PV market with up to 17 % efficiency (with coverglass). Mono-Si offers significant price savings and shorter lead times as well as fits perfectly for high orbit, long or deep space missions when satellite is exposed to space radiation for extended periods. Solar cells are assembled using NASA qualified conductive adhesive materials to reduce thermal gradients in the cells and avoid additional wiring. Upon request NanoAvionics is able to produce customized solar panels including deployables.
