Treatment of Moderate to Severe Vasomotor Symptoms due to Menopause

Elestrin is a colorless, nonstaining gel that is applied to the skin in a thin layer to help relieve some moderate to severe hot flashes. Elestrin (estradiol gel) contains a type of estrogen that comes from plants. Your body metabolizes this plant-based estrogen the same way as the estrogen that your body would make naturally. In a study of postmenopausal women, Elestrin significantly reduced both the frequency and severity of moderate to severe hot flashes. By week 5, Elestrin had cut the frequency of hot flashes by more than half, at the lowest dose (1 pump), compared with the symptoms the women experienced at the start of the study.
