They can be converted via a range of processes including melt print, extrusion (film, web, and filament), overmolding, solvent systems, and powder. They are used in applications requiring a solution to complex bonding problems such as automotive headliners, technical textiles, floor coverings, upholstery, and specialty apparel. NYCOA’s product portfolio includes adhesives that show excellent adhesion to highly plasticized f-PVC and other difficult to bond to substrates. NYCOA has also developed low-melt nylon grades that are based on Caprolactam free nylon chemistry. These adhesives are used in automotive headliner applications for improved air-quality in vehicle interiors. NYCOA low melt adhesive grades can also be used as a barrier layer between two substrates, to stop or minimize migration of chemicals and migrating dyes.
NYCOA’s portfolio of specialty random multi-polymers is engineered to offer low crystallinity and hence lower melting point versus standard nylon grades.
NYCOA’s low melting nylonsare used in applications such as hot-melt adhesives. The melting point for NYCOA’s low-melt nylon grades ranges from 100°C to 160°C and the melt viscosity can be tailored to meet customer performance specifications.
