(Hedone (Organoclay) has found itself as an indispensable additive for quality tyre manufacturers. This Product is equivalent of a product used for many years abroad in manufacturing of mould release compounds and rubber paints.
A very nominal addition of cHectone eliminates the requirement of continuous stirring to prevent settling of solids, homogenizes the mixture to give a smooth spray able emulsion for effective mould release to the tyre. Besides ease of application, the addition of Hectone minimizes tyre rejections and ensures a non - chatting, non - sticking smooth surface to the tyreinnard.It would be best to produce the extender added silicon emulsion, as in the normal course. The process for improving the emulsion is as follows :-
It is advisable that 50 % of Methanol be added to 1 to 1.5 % of cHectcne powder by the pre-dampening method which consists of wetting the powder with methanol in a beaker /can or container and stirring it with spatula for 2- 3 minutes separately to form an easily handled paste. This paste then is added to the emulsion equal to comprising of the various ingredients and mixed under high shear condition for about half an hour.
In another way add 1.0 to 1.5 % cHectone powder to full quantity of Naphtha stir well for 1 - 2 minutes and then add 50 % of Methanol to cHectone and mix under high stir or high shear conditions for about 2-3 minutes. This will produce an Hechne Pre Gel which can be added to the emulsion equilot comprising of the various remaining ingredients and mixed under high shear conditions forabout half an hour.
Above both the Pre-gels will produce a homogeneous emulsion which can easily be sprayed or brushed to the iron / rubber mould as required. This emulsion can also be used as a rubber paints after the addition of desired colors and pigments.
The consistency and the ingredients to the same formulation are varied by the formulators. The desired Viscosity can be controlled by the addition / reduction of quantity of "Hedom. This enables the same formulation to be used in the manufacturing of a mould release compound for small rubber products also like rubber bushings, rubber toys, Industrial rubber pads etc. and as a rubber paint with the desired coating thickness for Industrial rubber product applications, like cables, rubber lining of Iron cattle, column etc.
