The nanoMark is the first pioneering nano certification system created in the world; the main objective of the nanoMark system is to encourage businesses to develop nano products with an excellent reputation as well as to create the appropriate recognition from consumers toward nano products. Therefore, the task priorities required for the certification process encompass a liberalization of the certification categories, a formulation and enactment of the regulations, the launch of nanoMark laboratories, and the training of the review committee members, all of which require profound diligence in their establishment. In Taiwan, a six-year national nanotechnology development program was raised by National Science Council (NSC) for the period from 2003 to 2008, and the establishment and promotion of the nanoMark was a sub-plan of the program. The Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) entrusted the ITRI Center for Measurement Standards (CMS) to execute the “Nano-product Certification System Plan”. The goal of the plan was to promote the normal and prosperous development of the relevant nano-industries starting with the different aspects of the nanotechnology and industry. nanoMark System, Inaugurated on Nov. 6th ,2004.
