Electrospinning technique uses electrical field to produce fibers with diameter ranging from nano scale to a few micros. This technique has become a popular approach among nanofiber production techniques, owing to its simplicity, speed, efficiency, and low preparation cost. Electrospun nanofibers have attracted many interests for different applications in recent years because of their unique properties such as high surface to volume ratio and high porosity. These nanofibers have various applications including membranes and filtration sensors and biomedical applications such as drug delivery, wound dressing, tissue engineering and biosensing. With the increase in the number of electrospinning companies over the last years, electrospinning is progressively moving from laboratory bench processes to industrial scale processes. One of these companies is Fanavaran Nanomeghyas, FNM, Ltd located in Tehran, Iran which has mostly worked on developing electrospinning technique and devices from 2007. FNM is developing several electropsinning processes including lab-scale, pilot scale and large scale electrospinning units as well as melt electrospinning systems. FNM’s lab-scale electrospinning machines are excellent for research and production of several kinds of ceramic, polymer, composites nanofibers. This machine has reasonable and competitive cost with high quality and FNM has exported this device to foreign countries. Currently, FNM develops industrial and semi-industrial electrospining machines which can be used in coating filters’ paper by a layer of polymeric nanofibers increasing filtration efficiency and filter life-time without increasing the pressure drop which is very important in efficient filters. The produced nanofilters by this large scale machine are useful in cars’ filter, health masks, power plants’ filters, etc. Just in power plants’ filters, this technology can improve the energy conversion and reduce costs and can be beneficial through making and saving about 30 million USD for only one power plant working in Iran. The produced nanofilters passed required test and standard and got needed certificates. The technologies and machines are all manufactured by FNM. Also, devices such as high voltage (HV) power suppliers, syringe pumps, collectors and other accessories are being produced in this company. Additionally, FNM is going to develop many kinds of technologies related to nanofibers including ceramic nanofibers, composite nanofibers, scaffold nanofibers and core shell nanofibers especially ceramic nanofibers. Thus, this company not only produces machines related nanofibers but also develops aforementioned technologies employing professional experts in chemistry, biomedicine, nanomedicine, mechanics and nanomaterials fields. On the other hand because of manufacturing ability of HV suppliers in FNM, we are also producing capillary electrophoresis which has a lot of applications in separation and detections of protein, DNA and nanoparticles, etc.
